Speak
Artist: Lindsay Lohan
Released: December 7, 2004
1. First
Lindsay Lohan’s debut album starts off with an energetic rock-ish song with lots of energy. Lohan’s pitch can be off at times, but this is a nice introduction to her debut album. Although Lohan isn’t a great vocalist, she voice works well with his song to provide lots of energy to add to the energetic instrumentals in the background. I really like the guitar stuff in this.
2. Nobody ‘Til You
The instruments in this song doesn’t sound as lively as the previous track, but I quite like the melody for the chorus. The first of the song is a bit lacking in terms of energy.
3. Symptoms of You
I don’t quite like the melody for the introduction; it doesn’t really flow well and it’s very abrupt in contrast to the nicer piano backgrounds, and it doesn’t transition that well into the chorus. Don’t really like this song for the composition of the melody line.
4. Speak
I really notice how weak Lohan’s vocals are in this song. The song itself is nothing interesting, so I actually notice some of the lack of technique she has in this song. There’s a bit of catchiness in this one line in the chorus, but otherwise, Lohan’s vocals are kind of annoying in this song.
5. Over
As much as I like the chorus for this song, there’s some bits of this melody that really doesn’t seem to fit in the rest of the song. And Lohan’s vocals are again lacking.
6. Something I Never Had
The acoustic guitar intro stuff is quite nice. Would be a nice song if Lohan’s vocals would stop doing weird things with the melody and totally going off the key for like one or two notes and going back on key. o.o; The composition of this song is nice, but the vocals… below par.
7. Anything but Me
Lohan’s vocals are again grating on my nerves. Again, this song has a decent base just that I can’t tell what key this girl is on anymore. And it’s also kind of boring.
8. Disconnected
This song is a bit better vocally… at the beginning. It also has a nice acoustic-ish backings on it before before the louder guitar stuff comes in. Still kind of monotone-ish.
9. To know your name
The way Lohan’s singing at the beginning… doesn’t sound good at all. It made me cringe. Although I usually complain simply about Lohan’s vocals, this song is just weird in its composition. It’s not at all interesting; it just drones on.
10. Very Last Moment in Time
Oh, I like the guitar bits at the beginning. I quite like this song actually… before she goes into the chorus though, because of her vocals. But otherwise, I like this song. It also has a short string line pre-second chorus!
11. Rumors
Lohan’s first single off this album; it’s actually quite catchy. I don’t know why they decided to close the album with this, because it’s a weird ending to her album; It’s totally diferent from most of her guitar dominated album. Although not particularly creative, it is definitely catchy.
Overall-
Favourite track: Very Last Moment in Time
I decided to try out Lindsay Lohan’s album and it didn’t surprise me at all. While I didn’t like the majority of her album, there were a few tracks I did like. Lohan’s album is quite boring with tracks that didn’t keep my attention at all. The title track is lackluster. In any case, this album isn’t recommended unless you’re a big fan of Lindsay Lohan. Boring debut.
